The EIC Accelerator is a prominent funding initiative under Horizon Europe designed to support start-ups and SMEs with groundbreaking products, services, or business models that have the potential to redefine markets both in Europe and globally. This program is ideal for enterprises that are poised for rapid growth and are seeking substantial funding to overcome the high risks that might deter private investors.



The EIC Accelerator offers several funding options:

• Grant Funding: Non-dilutive grants of up to €2.5 million for innovation activities at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 5-8, intended to be completed within 24 months.

• Direct Investment: Dilutive funding of up to €15 million for initiatives ready for market deployment (TRL 9), based on the "patient capital" principle, typically looking at a 7-10 year investment horizon.

• Blended Finance: A combination of non-dilutive grants for earlier TRLs and dilutive equity for market deployment.

• Investment Only: Aimed at mid-cap companies and those previously granted "grant only" funding.



The EIC Accelerator also offers two distinct tracks:

• EIC Accelerator Challenges: For projects that align with specific, pre-defined topics, with a budget of €300 million for 2024.

• EIC Accelerator Open: For innovative projects in any technology field, with a budget of €375 million for 2024.



Beneficiaries gain access to a suite of Business Acceleration Services (BAS), including global networking opportunities, coaching, mentorship, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem. The selection process is streamlined into three major steps: writing a short proposal, submitting a full proposal, and participating in a face-to-face interview.
